How many yards of fabric do I need?
My friend and I are making quilts. We are using the drunkards path design. How many yards of fabric will we need. I know we need to fabrics, so how much of each? Thanks for your help and time.
I wish to make a king size quilt, I'm not sure how big she wants hers to be, and I believe we are going to use four inch squares. My friend has made one before but has forgotten the amout of fabric needed.
You will have to provide much more information than simply the design name! You will have to decide how big your quilt will be, and how big your blocks will be. Only then can you figure out how much yardage you'll need.
Drunkard's path is not a beginner's design. Even if you applique the smaller pieces onto the larger, those curves are difficult to get to lay smoothly. Try making a few squares of this pattern, in cheap remnants, before you buy and cut a large amount of nice fabric. You will find that those curves are a headache to sew. I suggest making a quilt with straight pieces first, then you can try a quilt with curves.
