Why is Tom and Jerry still on television but the newer shows are getting canceled?
Tom and Jerry have been on TV ever since the late 1930's. Why are the newer shows that have been on TV for 10 years getting canceled???
Because it is cheaper to broadcast a show that has already been made. Think about it. Whatever it cost to make the show has already been paid years and years ago, now the networks only need to pay a small fee for royalties in order to show it again and again and again. When they make a new show, someone actually has to pay for the production. It's really expensive to make television. If the channel can't make up what it costs to produce the show in advertising money because not enough people are watching, then it can't afford to make new shoes, it's losing money.
