do i double fabric layers when making quilt blocks?
this is my first quilt (obviously lol). and im confused about whether or not i unfold my fabric and use only one layer of it per patch, or if i keep it folder and use both layers.

As I'm sure you'll see, you don't generally make quilt blocks with double-layered fabric. You may have seen something like "foundation piecing" a block onto a muslin base, or a cutting method, etc., where the fabric was doubled though and assumed it was left like that perhaps?
