How do I redistribute batting (filler) that has bunched up in a sealed quilt or matress pad?
I have a thick matress pad that lays on top of the mattress under the sheet to make a soft sleeping surface. It didn't fit in my washer and it said wash or dry clean so I took it to the cleaners. They cleaned it but now the batting is all bunched up in spots and there is no batting in other spots. There is stitching making little compartments in each row about every 12 inches and small breaks between the compartments I think because some compartments are now empty. Others look like mountain peaks. There is no zipper or way to get inside to redistribute the batting. I tried shaking it with little result. I can return it to the cleaner but I'm doubtful they can do anything more than I can without opening the seams. Any ideas?
I would throw it in the dryer with a clean tennis ball....this will bounce against it to fluff it up and hopefully re-distribute the filling.
