Do you know how to make a circle hole in fabric?
I am dressing up as Leeloo in The Fifth Element to a party, and am making my own suspenders. I can purchase them, but they are very expensive at around $100 by themselves. I also am not making them out of rubber or silicone...I do not have the resources or expertise!–but I do know how to sew. I bought some orange knit fabric to use. I do not know of an easy way to make the holes, without using a stencil and cutting very carefully. And then after, what to do to keep them from tearing further or fraying? Also - the holes are quite large - and I know they will not look like perfect circles once the suspenders are on (and slightly stretched) - but I want to get as close as I can.

To help hold the shapes you want:
Draw the circles on the backside of the fabric.
Stitch on the drawn lines to stabilize the form of the circle.
Cut out the center, leaving 1/2" rim.
Clip the rim just to the stitching and fold to the back side.
Stitch a second row to hold the turned under fabric.
The first stitching will not show.
If you do not want the second stitching to show, use a fabric glue.
Try all suggestions on scraps of the fabric before cutting out the actual costume.
