Blocks Quilt

For a quilt, I am using 11 finished blocks. Keeping the 11 inches in mind, how do I do this?
I need finished squares that are 2 colors, made from large triangles. If I want the finished block to be 11 inches, then how big should color 1 & 2 square be before I cut it diagonally into a triangle, thus attaching colors 1 and 2 together for the 11 inch block??
I cut my squares 12 1/2".
on the back of on square draw a diagonal line from top left to bottom right. On each side of this line draw another line 1/4" away. Layer 2 sq. right sides together. sew along the outside line. Cut along the center (first line you drew). TaDaa you have made 2 half-square blocks at once.
They should measure 11 3/4".
Square them up to 11 1/2 " and when you sew them together they will finish 11"
I use this method so my squares are always the right size.
